To open a defined Link
1) Select (highlight) the linked text in the document.
Make sure you select the text exactly. Use the multiple-clicking features in the application to select text easier. For example, most applications select an entire word if you double-click on a word and expand the selection one word at a time. If you don’t select the text exactly, HyperBox tries to match your selection with an existing link.
2a) Select ‘Open Link…’ from the HyperBox menu, or
2b) Use the hot-key you specified in Options.
In some applications, especially if the Window Title is not the same as the filename, HyperBox prompts you to select the file you are currently working in.
• If a message saying “You must select text before issuing a Link command” opens, then select ‘Copy’ from the application’s Edit menu (with the linked text still selected) and select ‘Open Link…’ again.
If the linked file is on a network volume, HyperBox prompts you to log in. If the linked file is on a removable media that is not mounted, HyperBox asks you to insert the volume.
You can also open Links by using the Show Links menu command.
To open a URL
1) Select (highlight) the Universal Resource Locator (URL).
This should be text that begins with: http, www, ftp, etc. You can open URLs without creating a link – the URL itself is a link to the Internet.
2a) Select ‘Open Link…’ from the HyperBox menu, or
2b) Use the hot-key you specified in Options.
HyperBox launches or switches to the Web Browser you selected in Options and opens the link.
If the URL link doesn’t work, make sure:
• you selected a supported Web Browser in Options
• your Internet access software (ConfigPPP, FreePPP, etc.) is installed properly and set to ‘Allow applications to open connection’
